Apostolos Lymperatos MSc
Clinical Psychologist & Trainee Psychological Assessor
My name is Apostolos Lymperatos. I was born in Ioannina and have been living in Athens for several years now. My interest in psychology has its roots in my childhood and adolescence, as I always enjoyed reading about human behaviour and the relationships people form with one another.
Furthermore, having spent my teenage years in a provincial town where everyone knew each other, and being a particularly unconventional young person, I often found myself feeling like the “black sheep” or as though I did not truly belong where I was. As I grew older, this feeling developed into an interest in and empathy for other people who felt the same way. This often led people from different walks of life to share their personal stories and feelings with me. My own personal struggles and explorations ultimately motivated me to pursue a professional career in the human services field—something which, although challenging at times, I greatly enjoy.
I therefore completed my undergraduate studies in Applied Psychology at the University of Derby, where I subsequently obtained a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). At the same time, I am currently in the fourth year of postgraduate training in Psychological Assessment at the Athens Institute of Group Analysis.
Through my training, I am learning to administer and interpret a range of psychometric assessment tools, while also receiving training in the theoretical principles of Group Analysis. I participate in both individual and group supervision and am gaining experience in facilitating sociotherapeutic groups, with the aim of subsequently undertaking further training in Group Analysis. My involvement in group therapy and the experience of working alongside people from a wide range of backgrounds have changed me both professionally and personally.
I currently work as an associate at Roots Wellness Center, where I also completed my clinical placement as part of my postgraduate studies. Together with my colleague Anna ……, I have established my own practice in Klafthmonos Square, where I provide both in-person and online sessions in Greek and English.
