Natasha Sharma MSc, CCTP
Psychotherapist – Mental Health Counselor – Certified Clinical Trauma Professional – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy – Integrative Therapy
Let me introduce myself, my name is Natasha. I grew up in a multicultural environment; I am South Asian, specifically from India, but I spent most of my life in the Middle East. I mention this because I believe that environment, culture, and place play a very important role in shaping who we are as human beings. When I was younger, I often felt confused about where I belonged; in the Middle East I was considered a foreigner, even though I felt deeply connected to it, while in the Indian culture, since I had never lived in India, I felt a lack of connection. For me, home was something abstract, somewhere in between. This became even more demanding when I moved to Greece; I found myself in a new world, a new culture, which I had to integrate into my identity. With time, age, processing, and reflection, I learned that the concept of “home” is internal; it includes all the cultures and places I had the unique opportunity to experience, all the values, experiences, beliefs, feelings I chose to keep. And so, there is not just one answer to who I am or where my home is. You see, when someone asks us “who are you?”, there is never a one-line answer. Essentially, every human being – myself included – is multidimensional, with collections of layers, units, subunits, compartments, and categories that make us who we are. The one-line answer would be: I am human. It is these beautiful layers in every human being that drew me to the field of psychology and mental health.
Although I was drawn to psychology from a young age, it was not the professional path I had initially decided to pursue in the last years of high school. In fact, I was very interested in theatrical arts. However, towards the end of high school, I realized something very important – the reason I was fascinated by theater was not the art itself, but the people, the characters in the plays and the stories that captivated me; their emotions, their thoughts, their experiences, and the immense empathy and care I felt for them. Ultimately, it was this compassion for the human experience that led me to my academic path: B.A. in Psychology from Deree – The American College of Greece/The Open University and an MSc in Clinical Psychology and Mental Health Counseling from the Hellenic American University.
During my training, I gained three years of extensive and invaluable practice, applying counseling skills and acquiring a deeper understanding of the therapeutic process with individuals and groups. I have been trained and supervised in counseling at private centers, where I worked with difficulties relating to trauma and abuse, childhood attachments, anxiety, stress, panic attacks, depression, PTSD, psychosomatic symptoms, coping, cultural issues, phobias, grief, development/lifespan issues, and personality/behavioral difficulties. I have also participated in webinars, workshops, and groups on topics such as self-esteem, procrastination, personal growth, alternative therapies for trauma and anxiety, meditation, and mindfulness.
I have been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Attachment-Based Therapy, but I also integrate other integrative approaches, such as Mindfulness, Internal Family Systems, Schema Therapy, Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Person-Centered, and Holistic Alternative methods, in order to provide comprehensive care for each individual. My personal experiences with injustice, bullying, depression, and pain reinforced my interest in the field of trauma, and I obtained certification from the International Trauma Training Institute and Evergreen Certifications as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). I provide counseling and psychotherapy sessions both in-person and online, as well as workshops, webinars, and group sessions.
Sessions integrate a variety of culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approaches to ensure a safe space for each individual. For me, the therapeutic relationship – like most relationships – is the foundation for growth and connection. It is my honor to cultivate an environment of empathy, compassion, honesty, respect, authenticity, and warmth, with goals tailored to each session and each individual. Therapy is a unique collaborative process from start to finish, where we work together to maintain your well-being, and I warmly welcome you to this important journey you are about to begin!
